I know I'll probably get some flack for saying this. One more thing I think should be kept in mind, is that no matter which app you use, there's no such thing as 100% accuracy. I have a description of the image, and the text with it. choose the photo I want analyzed, and poof I'm done. Then, I use a 4-finger tripple tap, to activate the recognize with Seeing AI. I take a meme that was either sent to me via Messenger, or that I found on Facebook, then save it to my ipad. But, if you want my favorite, it's Seeing AI. apps, is, if the one you use the most quits working, or, if their servers or whatever are down, then you have another one that you can use in the meantime. Another reason I say it's good to have multiple OCR. I have Voice Drean Scanner, OCR converts photos into text, or something like that, I forget the exact name at the moment, Seeing AI, as well as a couple other apps that I've not had a chance to try out yet. Then, go to browse photos in Seeing AI, and then select the photo to be analyzed from there. Or one app might be better at handling certain formats than others.Īnother thing you could try, is take a pic of something with your phone camera. Like, if you're scanning your bank statement, you don't necisarily need to know that it's a pic of a piece of paper sitting on a table. Because some work better than others, and, depending on what you're doing, or what you're scanning, one app might be better suited for the task at hand, or one app might give you info that you don't need at the time. I think that this is one of those situations, where it's good to have several different apps on your device. The default value is 1/32, or 0.03125.Honestly, I have several different OCR apps on my ipad. “Increasing the size reduces memory consumption and expedites recognition with the tradeoff of ignoring text smaller than the minimum height. minimumTextHeight- The minimum height of the text (with respect to that of the image) from which the recognition of the text will take place.customWords- A set of words defined by us to complement those in the dictionary and which will be used during the recognition stage (for example, names, marks, etc.).This class, as the documentation indicates, searches and recognizes the text in an image.įor this process, we will need a request (instance of the VNRecognizeTextRequest class), in which we can define the text recognition parameters: Specifically, we will use the VNRecognizeTextRequest class. Now, to recognize and extract the text of the documents we have scanned, we will use the Apple Vision framework, already integrated into iOS 11. Here we will only dismiss the controller. The third method, documentCameraViewControllerDidCancel (_ controller: VNDocumentCameraViewController), is called when the Cancel button of the VNDocumentCameraViewController controller is clicked. The second method, documentCameraViewController (_ controller: VNDocumentCameraViewController, didFailWithError error: Error), is called when an error occurs when scanning the document, so it is at this point that we must perform some error management action.įor example, if the error is due to the fact that the user has not given permission to use the camera, we can show an alert message asking to activate the permission. Once we have verified that one or more documents have been scanned, before removing the controller, we pass the scanned image to the scanImageView component. title- The title ( String) of the scanned document.imageOfPage(at index: Int)- The image ( UIImage) of the page in the indicated index.pageCount- The ( Int) number of pages scanned. The scan object ( VNDocumentCameraScan) contains three parameters: ![]() The first method, documentCameraViewController (_ controller: VNDocumentCameraViewController, didFinishWith scan: VNDocumentCameraScan), is called when we have scanned one or more pages and saved them ( Keep Scan first and then Save).
